"WIRED"

In this dramatic high-seas standoff, Los Zetas hijackers and Muslim bombmakers team up against the U.S. Coast Guard and an ex-SEAL vigilante with a score to settle........

On a picture-perfect day, a day cruise ship is hijacked off the Florida coast and “wired” with explosives. At the same time car bombs explode across America including the DEA Headquarters in Virginia. As these startling revelations unfold the perpetrators turn out to be the "Los Zetas" drug cartel, who have joined forces with Al-Qaeda bombmakers to exact the release of a feared and revered drug boss jailed in Miami.

For Captain Skip Myles, the situation transcends belief. The unimaginable shock of losing his vessel to armed terrorists a mere ten miles from port has left him a bewildered captive on his own ship. When he doesn’t come home from his evening cruise, his worried wife calls her ex-Navy SEAL brother. Cal rushes to her side and later embarks on a lone mission to rescue Skip himself, convinced that if he doesn’t, no one else will.

Coast Guard Rear Admiral Ray Hanna has the ship surrounded but finds himself on a political leash. He can’t release Alvarez and he can’t storm the ship without endangering the 218 passengers. It's a standoff. When the hijackers begin blowing up passengers wearing life jackets rigged with C-4—makeshift suicide vests—Hanna receives 24 hours to end the deadlock or else, leaving him with just one unthinkable choice.

Later that night, armed with a black-market Uzi and some borrowed scuba gear, Cal falls back into the murky waters of the Gulf of Mexico for his two-mile underwater swim to the Majestic Star, plunging headlong into a deadly showdown between the U.S. Coast Guard and the suicidal Los Zetas and Al-Qaeda hijackers.

This where our story begins. The stage is set and the outcome is sure to be bloody.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:  “WIRED” is a high seas thriller that explores the entire spectrum  of human emotion. Similar to the movie "Captain Philips", the hijacking of the Majestic Star merely sets the stage for the drama. The real story is about how the ship captain, his wife, the wife's brother, and the Coast Guard admiral, not only brave the crisis, but daringly meet it head-on.

On a rainy Sunday afternoon a Florida man is beheaded and a woman vanishes into thin air. A day later the woman’s husband receives the man’s head in a box with a note from an old nemesis long thought dead. As it turns out, Juan Carlos Alvarez is not so dead and the criminal mastermind is out for blood—and lots of it. When the kidnapped woman is tracked to the mountains of Mexico, her husband and brother hatch a daring rescue plan to save her, taking the former Navy SEALs on a roller-coaster journey across the U.S. and Mexico, culminating with the deadliest terrorist attack in world history at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.  Remember the Hindenburg? KABOOM!!

The climactic ending will startle you!

AMAZON BOOK REVIEWS

I've just finished Taken & Afraid by Ronson Duncan, a rip-roaring page turner. Don't even bother starting it unless you have all night free to finish it. I took Ron's first book, WIRED, for granted. I gave it 5 deserved stars. This book is a non stop hold onto your butt surprise thriller from the first page to the last. In what can only be described as a a constantly changing, intricate balance of good and evil and evil turned good, TAKEN will take you places few second time authors ever get to achieve. All I can say is READ IT! 5 BIG STARS!....David J. Roth, former Book Reviewer for Tampa Bay Examiner

Ronson Duncan has written one of the best adventure novels I have read in a long time. It has heart pounding action from page one to the climactic startling ending. Characters are well drawn, and the locations (especially if you live in Clearwater Florida) have you believing that you are part of the action. This book is a sequel to a first novel, "Wired", which was an outstanding debut novel with the same nonstop action, and believable and frightening plot. Do yourself a favor and read both books, you will not forget either of them anytime soon…. John Austin, Host of the Book Club, Tan Talk Radio Network

This is the second book by Ronson Duncan that I've read and it captured the same sense of suspense as "Wired" did. In this book, he moves from Florida to Mexico, to NYC and follows the characters pace as they try to rescue the kidnapped wife of one of the main characters. His portrayal of the scene-setting in the other parts of the novel are very accurate and add to the suspense, as you "feel like you are there". The ending is a good one, as it rounds things up from the various sub-plots he has woven through the novel - plus it has a trick blow-off that is unexpected enough to surprise most readers. All-around good job…. David C., San Diego CA

Ronson Duncan has given us a really good second book to enjoy. Timely, suspenseful, educational, and thoughtful...the book keeps you moving from character to character, and chapter to chapter. Unique twists and turns, in a plot that is relevant to today's challenges, it makes one wonder how safe we really are from terrorists bent on taking out the Big Satan. Good read!.... J. Chapman, Dunedin FL
